Montreal Intersection

This is part of the Lumiere videoblogging challenge. Part of the spirit of the challenge is to avoid setting up a shot or series of video images according to a pre-defined plan, and letting the world speak to you by capturing moments as they happen.

The rules: * 60 seconds max * Fixed camera * No audio * No zoom * No edit * No effects

For more information see: http://videoblogging.info/lumiere/ Of course, in a sense I edited this piece, in terms of how I edited what I saw. When I first took the footage, I noticed a distracting reflection of the window curtain in the image, so I re-positioned the shot again without the curtain reflection figuring as severely as it had in the first take. I did not edit what was in the camera, but I edited what I “saw” by manipulating the environment of the shot. One could argue that I only “saw” the curtain because I was looking at how the shot was coming across for the Lumiere. When you do Lumieres, how much do you “edit” the environment?

Ferris Wheel and Moon (Credited)

This is the same as the Lumiere version except this one has credits. For more information on Lumiere videos see: http://videoblogging.info/lumiere/

I noticed that some video bloggers leave their names in and some do not. I find it hard not to leave my name. Did I learn something about myself?

Ferris Wheel and Moon

This is another Lumiere video. For more information about Lumiere videos, including rules and examples see: http://videoblogging.info/lumiere/. Other Lumiere videoso on anthro vlog include Sunrise over Goteborg, the Zoetrope videos, and the Lion in Summer video.

As much as I want to share reactions I have gotten to this video and my other Lumieres, I’m trying not to. As a researcher, this is quite difficult. But I think people should comment for themselves, rather than having me point out what others, or I find interesting.

Sunrise Over Goteborg

This is part of the Lumiere videoblogging challenge. Part of the spirit of the challenge is to avoid setting up a shot or series of video images according to a pre-defined plan, and letting the world “speak to you” by capturing moments as they happen.

The rules:

  • 60 seconds max
  • Fixed camera
  • No audio
  • No zoom
  • No edit
  • No effects

For more information see: http://videoblogging.info/lumiere/ Luckily I had my tripod with me when I saw the sunrise in Sweden on July 10, 2007. Sunrise that day was at 4:27 a.m. It is a strange feeling to see the sun rise so early and set so late (after 10 p.m.)
