Maybe I should have called this video “Freeway Angel.”

Return to the Sad Man

Recently, I was in Montreal and luckily I had my camera when I stumbled onto this sculpture again. This time, I got to see it at night! Then later, I found him a “friend.”

Paradoxical Updates

Linguistic paradoxes are so much fun.
The screen shot at the beginning is from the Star Trek television show. It is from the episode entitled, “I, Mudd,” which first aired in 1967.

Black and Sparkly

What if an abstract painting could move?
The setting: Rotterdam. Before sunrise. On my way to the airport. Time for just a few more shots. But it’s so dark. Just one more.

Asking about Analytics

How much do you rely on analytics? Do you use them for professional reasons, or for your own interest? If you don’t use them, why is that?

Picturing Information

This is an interactive exercise!
(But shouldn’t watching all media be interactive?!)

Tree Spirit

While out walking one day I saw this face placed into a tree. It made me wonder, who put the face there? Why did they do this? It seems to have a kind of mysterious air about it. But what could it mean?
What do you think?

Tesla Coil

This is a Tesla coil I filmed at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Invented by Nikola Tesla, it is defined as “a step-up transformer with an air core; used to produce high voltages at high frequencies.” Source: http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=tesla%20coil
For a definition of Tesla coils see: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Tesla+coil
And yes, I am aware that the credits run longer than the video!

Six Textures from a Chair

When I first got a cell phone with a video camera, I tried it out. I realized you can observe a lot of different things sitting in one vantage point. I called this video six “textures” while thinking about how texture often refers to how things feel. Yet we cannot feel things in a video. How can we show what things “feel” like? Also, texture can mean other things, artistically, besides how things feel. It can refer to an “identifying quality or character…of a piece of art” (The Free Online Dictionary).
